Metro East Expects to Surpass $1 Million in Contributions with 20th Cars for CASA
The Metro East Division of the Dallas Builders Association expects to surpass $1 million in contributions to Lone Star Casa with its 20th annual Cars for CASA auto show on May 18. The vintage car, truck and motorcycle show will be held at the Rockwall County Courthouse starting at 10 a.m.
Cars for CASA began in 2005 with 80 cars and raised $2,600. It has since become one of the largest auto shows in North Texas. This year’s show is expected to include more than 400 vehicles and raise more than $100,000. To date, the event has raised more than $910,000 for Lone Star CASA and organizers expect to surpass the $1 million mark in total funds raised with this year’s show.
Lone Star CASA Inc., which supports abused and neglected children in Rockwall and Kaufman counties, is part of a national program that began in the late 1970s to provide volunteer advocates for children in the foster care system. In Texas, there are 72 local CASA programs with nearly 11,000 volunteers serving more than 30,000 children.
In 2024, Lone Star CASA advocated for 214 children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties, and helped 88 of these children achieve permanency when their cases were closed.
“We’re proud to play a role in helping CASA kids rebuild their lives,” said Car Show Co-Chair Dave Hambley of Lee Lighting. “The Cars for CASA show is a great way to support a worthy cause and raise awareness of the CASA role in our children’s lives.”
Cars for CASA Co-Chair Doug Bowerman of Susser Bank adds, “Please consider supporting this event to help ensure that vulnerable children have someone to speak on their best interest in court, advocates for their medical well-being and educational success, and ultimately shows them that the community cares for them.”
The show will include vintage and custom vehicles, food and drinks from local restaurants, a live DJ and a 50/50 raffle. CASA will also have a booth on-site for anyone interested in learning more or signing up to volunteer.
Partnerships are still available and range from $250 to $10,000.
